Pottebaum Seeks to Extend a Lifetime of Public Service
Marty Pottebaum seeks to continue his lifetime of public service as he throws his hat in the ring for a seat on the City Council of Sioux City.
Pottebaum is an Army veteran and a retired Sioux City Police Officer who spent four years on the city council and four years on The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors. He has also been on the Municipal Fire and Police Retirement System of Iowa for 30 years, the last 14 as Chair.
"When I heard that three incumbents were not running, I knew we would be losing a great deal of knowledge and experience, so I decided my past service could help lessen the learning curve of the new council," Pottebaum explains. "I am retired, have the time to serve constituents, know from experience what it takes to do the job right and I’m willing to dedicate myself to that goal."
Sioux City voters will have two opportunities to choose their next council members:
- A primary election will be held on Oct. 7, 2025. The top six (out of a total of nine) vote-getters will advance to the general election.
- The general election will be held on Nov. 4, 2025. The top three vote-getters in this contest will be elected to the open City Council seats.
Pottebaum notes that if you support his candidacy, the most important thing you can do is vote in both the primary and general election. Persons interested in volunteering, donating or having questions answered may contact Pottebaum by emailing or calling him at 712-251-1799.
