What is a precinct? An election precinct is a small area in a city or county where people go to vote. Each precinct has its own polling place where voters living in that area cast their ballots. Precincts help make voting easier by organizing voters based on where they live.
What’s the difference between voting absentee and voting early? Voting absentee means you vote by mail if you can’t go to a polling place on Election Day, like if you’re out of town or sick. Voting early lets you go in person to vote before Election Day during set times, usually at special voting locations.
What is satellite voting? Satellite voting is when voting happens at locations other than the main polling place. These locations are set up to make voting easier by giving people more places to cast their ballots before or on Election Day. It helps reach more voters, especially in big communities or areas far from main polling stations.
When are primary elections held?

In Woodbury County, Iowa, primary elections are usually held on the first Tuesday in June during even-numbered years. In these elections, voters choose which candidates from each political party will run in the general election later in November.
