NAACP Sioux City Branch adds Lively Panel with Celebrated Panelists to Freedom Fund Weekend Activities
The NAACP Sioux City is hosting James Carter, President-Elect of the National Bar Association, at its annual Freedom Fund Dinner Saturday, October 18. The Dinner will be held at the Sioux City Convention Center with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the Program beginning at 6:00 p.m.
On Sunday, October 19, there will be a public forum at the Sioux City Museum, where James Carter will be joined by local Ho-Chunk Tribal Member and CEO of Ho-Chunk, Inc., Lance Morgan. Carter, who was graduated from Howard University's School of Law School, and Morgan, who earned his law degree from Harvard Law School, will bring their legal expertise and trenchant insights to a conversation about how the law has helped and has hurt communities of color. They will bring a historical perspective that also informs their perceptions on present-day circumstances.
The panel, entitled “Howard & Harvard Educations/ ‘In Real Life’ Experiences … How the Law Impacts BIPOC Communities – Pro & Con,” will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Sioux City Sioux City Public Museum (607 4th Street; Sioux City, IA 51101). The conversation will be facilitated by Linda Santi, NAACP Sioux City Branch Vice President.
