SIOUX CENTER, IOWA—Area Democrats, disillusioned Republicans, and independent voters are invited to the Northwest Iowa Dinner with Democrats on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. The event will be held at the Terrace View Event Center at 230 St. Andrews Way in Sioux Center, and is hosted by the Democratic parties of Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Plymouth, Sioux and Woodbury counties.
The keynote speaker will be Dave Muhlbauer, who is on the ticket as Lieutenant Governor with Rob Sand, Democratic candidate for Iowa Governor. Muhlbauer is a fifth-generation family farmer and cattleman from Manilla, Iowa, currently serving his second term on the Crawford County Board of Supervisors. Raised on the family farm, he attended IKM-Manning (Irwin, Kirkman, and Manilla-Manning) Community School District and Wartburg College before returning home to farm corn, soybeans, and alfalfa, and raise cattle, hogs, and horses. He brings a strong western Iowa voice and deep agricultural roots to the ticket, along with a track record of working across the aisle to deliver results for rural communities.

“Republicans promised to lower costs,” said Woodbury County Democratic Party Chair Ryan Akerberg. “Instead, Iowa farmers got a trade war that tanked soybean prices and a war in Iran that sent nitrogen fertilizer costs soaring right as corn growers needed it most for spring planting—all while billionaires cashed in on the so-called ‘Big Beautiful Bill,’ which guts Medicaid, shuts down Iowa’s rural hospitals, and starves our public schools of funding.”
Akerberg continued, “The Democratic candidates at this event aren’t running for billionaire donors. They’re running for the family farmer trying to make it to next season, the parents worried about their local health care clinic or hospital closing, and the kid who deserves a fully funded classroom. That’s the change Iowa needs in Des Moines and Washington.”
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 6:30. Dinner will be catered by Shari’s Kitchen and Catering in Rock Rapids and will feature:

Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, as well as drinks that can be purchased at a cash bar.
Tickets are $30 per person and available here. The advance-ticket deadline is Sept. 18, though a limited number of tickets will be available for purchase at the door via ActBlue or cash.
