Last Friday's Winter Social was festive, cozy and filled with the holiday spirit that comes with this time of year. Participants gathered to share laughs, eat delicious holiday snacks, socialize, and interact with local leaders.

Democratic candidate for governor from Muscatine, Mario A Perales Jr., described the ambiance as “down-to-earth, cordial and very diverse”.

Youth Advisor for The NAACP youth council Celeste Sudduth-Triplett described her interest in attending, saying, "I think it's important for everyone to get out, get an opportunity to see those who have the same thought processes and beliefs as they do, and meet some of the candidates who are in or seeking various government positions.”

IMG_4677Events Chair Jackie Stellish said, "I enjoyed watching folks pick out their plate full of holiday treats. This is a low-key event that just about anyone could enjoy. If I had to identify a way we might make these events even more successful in the future, I'd ask that other WCD committees promote the event within their own networks, then help our team sell tickets and bring friends. That would be awesome."

The event raised approximately $1,200 to fund the Woodbury County Democratic Party's ongoing operations.
