Amy DeGroot Encourages a Vote for Pat Gill | Woodbury Democrats

Twenty-eight years spent in public service is an excellent barometer of commitment to the common good and to finding meaning in it.

That is the heart of a public servant.  It is the heart of Pat Gill, who is running on the Democratic ticket for re-election as Woodbury County Auditor.

In the last few years of a Republican triumvirate in Des Moines, Pat Gill has often lobbied legislators to remove needless restrictions on voting—restrictions designed to obstruct rather than to help and all under the guise of restoring “election integrity.”  Gill was one of only three Iowa county auditors sued by the Trump campaign in 2020 for attempting to facilitate safe pandemic voting.  He is not timid about confronting attempts to take away our county ballot drop box (the most secure chain-of-custody voting method other than in-person voting) and to shorten our early voting window.  Gill’s Republican opponent favors both schemes.

I will vote for Pat Gill to continue his devoted public service.  To do otherwise would send the message that we don’t value the culture of trust and accountability which defines his work.
