new beginnings
It is now time to get back into the swing of things. Many changes need to happen at all levels of the Party and even though I cannot do anything substantial at the national and state levels, I believe I can do something at the local level. So here is what the game plan NEEDS to be.
- we need to do something about the Central committee. Many of its members bring no ideas to the table and only get involved with the elections about 2 weeks before election day. We cannot expect the same people like Virginia Hood to keep carrying the load. You want to be leaders of the party, you need to do act like it. Being on the Central Committee is a privilage not a right.
- We need to be "issue oriented" not just "election oriented." There are protests and gatherings that need to be planeed and petitions to be signed. We have the infrastructre and the resources to get issues rolling, so let us begin.
- We need to be civic oriented. Let us fund raise for Childrens Miracle Network Telethon or put a team together for Walk America. Let us help fund raise for the museum and let us be active in city politics.
Let us work more with the unions, environmental groups and other progressive groups in the area. Let us have rallies supporting issues like the Conservatives do....and then let us help other counties go from red to blue.

Harkin Votes Against Rice
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26, 2005
“After much consideration of Dr. Condoleezza Rice’s nomination to be Secretary of State, I am unable to support her nomination.
I am very concerned about Dr. Rice’s role as the marketer of the inflated evidence leading up to what was called a pre-emptive war in Iraq. The Administration gave the impression to the American people that Iraq posed an imminent threat to the US and the world, often based on worst case scenarios and poor intelligence, which later proved to be untrue.
I have experienced first hand in my travels the loss of U.S. credibility worldwide which alienated many of our democratic friends and allies. Dr. Rice’s elevation to Secretary of State will send the wrong signal regarding our future diplomacy efforts and American interests.”

Lieberman and Rice - Made for each other
I thought Lieberman`s speech praising Condi Rice was pathetic. Senator Levin had it right. Rice was one of the chief architects of the failed Iraq policy and the biggest spinner for it after it began to unravel. She cannot give a straight answer or a fully truthful answer to a question. So she gets promoted!
