Welcome

Welcome. This is my first post. So much to talk about and so little time.

Hopefully we are past the period of mourning and back at the anger stage. At least I hope we are all ready to carry on the fight.

Iowa, although a tenuous "Red" state can return to "Blue" Skies. We can do it starting with next year's elections. We need to take control of both chambers of the legislature and retain the Governor's mansion.

We will have some decent chances to pick up at least one Congressional seat (Nussle's) and possibly more.

If you would like to write Letters to the Editor, please do so. Those of us that are well known party "hacks" can only write so many pieces. Some suggested topics:

The thanks W gives to Iowa for turning "Red" after 20 years (his budget
proposing a 5 percent cut in farm subsidies/ag budget;)

How W can make Iraq & Afghanistan a 6.5 billion $ priority while gutting
all of our domestic programs;

The big lies being told by the "R's" relating to our Social Security "crisis";

Closer to home: Morningside State Senator Ron Wieck sponsoring every bill to limit injured people's rights in Court after himself filing a lawsuit for a dog bite while campaigning 3 years ago. His response: "as long as the law allows me to file such a claim for pain and suffering, I am going to exercise my rights".

Christopher Rants and Company trying to protect the tobacco industry (from whom they have received campaign donations) by attacking the Governor's proposed cigarette tax to fund the Medicare/Medicaid shortfall. Note the "R's" have offered no plan of their own on this issue.

I'm sure we'll all be posting here as it should be a friendly place to vent/rant.

Take care. Do not despair. The people will rise up and throw these bums out. And if not, Canada is only 8 hours or so away.
